We all know the story of Cinderella, who has to work hard for her stepmother and stepsisters until one day she wins the prince’s heart at the royal ball. The origins of the fairy tale date back to 1697 , when “Cendrillon” provided the basis for today’s Cinderella story. Later, the Brothers Grimm included the story in their collection and “Aschenputtel” became established. Cinderella ultimately owes its worldwide musical fame to Sergei Prokofiev’s 1945 ballet version.
Ballet of Lights builds on this interpretation and adds a sparkling twist.
