Like every year, it’s time for the tapping! Oans, zwoa, g’suffa! For 214 years now, the Oktoberfest has been attracting beer and hop lovers from all over the world to the seductive Wies’n in Munich. But the Bavarian festival tradition has long since ceased to be the exclusive preserve of the state capital: In the course of globalization, it has found its way around the globe. Whether in Dubai, Tokyo or right here in Hamburg – the festival stops off everywhere and invites young and old, locals and visitors alike, to join in the celebrations in lederhosen and dirndls.
So if you fancy Bavarian conviviality, hearty brass band music and a pint or two of beer, you don’t have to travel to Munich. We’ll tell you where you can immerse yourself in the Oktoberfest feeling in Hamburg in full traditional costume and treat yourself to a cold beer – or several. It’s going to be fun!
1st Oktoberfest at the Hofbräuhaus

The Hofbräu pubs in Hamburg open the Oktoberfest on September 20 at 12 noon, when a barrel of Hofbräu Oktoberfest beer is traditionally tapped. From then until October 11, it’s all about raising mugs of beer, enjoying the Bavarian festival tent atmosphere and partying hard. The Original Hofbräuhaus Showband will provide the right Oktoberfest atmosphere with its hearty music. And the best thing is: you don’t have to travel to Munich for that real Oktoberfest feeling – you can experience it right here in Hamburg!
