In August, the city has already sent us on a wild journey – with great festivals, Hamburg Pride and much more. But just because summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean that there’s less going on. Quite the opposite: September in Hamburg beckons with concerts by international stars, festivals for every taste and boat trips through Germany’s most beautiful harbor. Here are our favorites – and to keep you up to date, here’s our current weekend guide!
Hamburg Cruise Days

The 10th edition of the Hamburg Cruise Days will take place from September 12 to 14. This maritime festival transforms the port into a lively stage full of cruise flair, impressive ship parades and a varied program. The VASCO DA GAMA will kick off the event on Friday, September 12, sailing across the Elbe accompanied by music and fireworks. The big parade follows on Saturday, September 13: ships such as the MSC Preziosa, Mein Schiff 4, the VASCO DA GAMA, the MS Sans Souci and the AIDAperla present themselves against the unique backdrop of the port. At the same time, light artist Michael Batz will bathe the port in a spectacular blue from September 10 to 21 with his “Blue Port” installation.

The kings of hearts are coming to Barclays Arena Hamburg on September 29! As part of their Escape to Europe 2025 Tour, OneRepublic will be shaking up the Hanseatic city after a series of acclaimed shows. Ella Henderson will kick off the evening as the support act. Look forward to global hits such as Counting Stars, Apologize and many more songs that are guaranteed to give you goosebumps and heart-stopping moments.

From September 12 to 14, the Open Monument Day in Hamburg invites you to discover otherwise closed buildings. Experience the city’s architectural treasures up close and take part in guided tours, cultural activities and interactive formats – for young and old, whether privately or professionally. There are also a variety of family and cultural programs with concerts, exhibitions and much more. The event kicks off on Friday, September 12 with a spectacular open-air video projection (“A Wall is a Screen”) on building facades at Platz der Deutschen Einheit.

Exciting films at the Binnenalster Filmfest

The Binnenalster Filmfest 2025 is the perfect combination of cinema experience and nature! For four evenings, the Jungfernstieg will be transformed into an open-air cinema with a floating screen in the middle of the Binnenalster. Classics and modern audience favorites are shown – framed by the sunset over the Alster. With a blanket and friends or as a couple, you can experience magical movie moments in the open air. The ‘Silent Movies’ are a special highlight : you can immerse yourself in the film undisturbed with headphones – ideal for a romantic or simply cozy movie night.

When fall arrives in Hamburg, the apple harvest also begins in the Altes Land, just a short drive from the city. The Altes Land is also ideal for relaxing walks among the orchards and many farms offer guided tours where you can learn more about the traditions of the region.
