Jazz, its history and the show
Jazz is the soundtrack of constant reinvention. Born out of an exciting mix of African, European and Caribbean influences in New Orleans, jazz took the syncopated rhythms of ragtime and the yearning sounds of the blues and created something completely new. With improvisation as its trademark, the genre has left its mark everywhere over the decades – from hip-hop to electronic music – and its spirit of freedom and individuality lives on today.
“We call it Jazz” picks up on this rich heritage in an atmospheric show and takes you on a musical journey – from the fun-loving “On The Sunny Side Of The Street” to the groovy “Cantaloupe Island”. The performance is filled with spontaneous improvisations and instrumental solos in which the musicians showcase their skills to authentically reflect the true essence of the genre.
The international event series “We call it” brings a wide variety of music and dance styles to the stage in an authentic atmosphere – from soulful ballet to fiery flamenco and spirited tango.
