From art and gastronomy to shopping experiences – Hamburg is known to offer everything your heart desires. But tomorrow the city center will have strong competition: a new luxury department store is moving into HafenCity! Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, a covered shopping district, is bringing a breath of fresh air to the city – with a mix of shopping, restaurants and leisure facilities.
After several postponed opening dates in April, August and October, the time has finally come: the quarter will officially open its doors on Tuesday, April 8 at 4 pm. The ECE Group, which already operates several shopping centers in Hamburg, commented on the opening: they see potential competition in Westfield, but also an opportunity – in the hope that the new center will be perceived as an enrichment for the city and its visitors.
What can you expect at the Westfield shopping center?
The space in the new shopping center is said to be 95% let already. Many national and international brands will be represented here. To be more precise, it is not just a shopping center, but an entire district full of experiences, trends and moments of pleasure. On over 400,000 square meters, you can discover more than 170 stores – including the luxurious Breuninger department store, the drugstore Budni and the bookstore Thalia. The brands represented in the Westfield shopping center include ZARA, Bershka, Karl Lagerfeld, Adidas, Hunkemöller and many more.
Numerous restaurants and cafés invite you to take a break from shopping – whether for brunch, lunch, dinner or a snack in between. Culinary highlights include the popular breakfast restaurant Lolas Bistro, The Baby Goat for a cozy coffee break and Luciella’s Ice Cream for a delicious ice cream. So this place is not just a paradise for shopping fans – foodies will also get their money’s worth.
And movie fans will also be delighted: In addition to restaurants, Hamburg’s largest cinema awaits you here – the Kinopolis. You can experience the latest blockbusters at the highest technical level in ten screens. There is also plenty for families with children to discover – such as the exciting Lego Discovery Center, which will make children’s eyes light up.

On April 8, various opening events will take place in the Westfield shopping center from 4 pm to 10 pm – with performances by Hamburg musicians, exciting performances and late night shopping.
